We have been working really hard, getting ready for our Christmas Play. Everyone in our class has a speaking part so we've all been learning lines and trying to remember where we need to stand when it's our turn to speak. We've also learnt all the words and actions to the songs we're singing with Year 1, and the songs we sing by ourselves.
We're really looking forward to our dress rehearsal tomorrow, when we will perform in front of the rest of the school, and to the performances later this week. Today, we all tried our costumes on to make sure everything fit well and that we wouldn't trip over anything. Can you spot our two narrators and the three dodgy stall-holders? Who do you think the other characters are?

Children in Need Maths- Pudsey Bear 3012
On Children in Need day we were given the task to design a Pudsey Bear for the future. A Pudsey Bear for the year 3012, where no cuddly bears are allowed; instead it is a world where there are no curved edges!
We used two dimensional shapes to design our bears of the future, what do you think?
Can you see which shapes we used?

There was a winner and a runnner up in the competition, so well done to Erin for the winning design and Poppy for being the runner up.

Roly-Poly Birds
In literacy we have been learning to follow and write our own instructions. On Monday we had to follow instructions to make a roly-poly bird from Roald Dahl's 'The Twits'. We tried really hard to work on our own and make some very bright and colourful birds.
Sunflowers
We have really enjoyed learning about Vincent van Gogh and tried to re-create his painting 'Sunflowers'. We have some budding artists in Year 2.
Roald Dahl's Writing Hut
Year 2 have found out so much about Roald Dahl's life and how he used to lock himself away in his writing hut so that he could write in peace for hours. Our role play area is his writing hut and we really enjoy going in there to read.
Quentin Blake Paintings
As part of our 'Famous Faces' topic we have been reading lots of stories by Roald Dahl and decided to paint some of his characters in the style of Quentin Blake.

Enjoying Gymnastics
In gymnastics we continued to develop our balancing skills. Last week we learnt how to point balance using the small part of our body. This week we learnt how to do patch balances using the larger parts of our body. We then worked in pairs to perform a sequence of patch and point balances, using mirror image.
