Famous Faces Day at Sandfield Farm

On Thursday 20th September we spent the day at Sandfield Farm and had a fantastic time.  First we went for a long walk and Emma told us all about the Gloucester cows because we were going to find out about the famous doctor, Edward Jenner who discovered the small pox vaccine based on cow pox using the Gloucester cow, Blossom.

Next we went on a nature walk and looked at the beautiful sunflowers. We talked about why they are called sunflowers and how Vincent van Gogh was inspired by them.

Afterwards we collected natural objects on our walk and made our own famous faces.  These are just a selection of them:

Later that day we went to the play wood and some of us made the marvellous medicine from Roald Dahl's 'George's Marvellous Medicine' which we have been reading in literacy.

What a busy but wonderful day!

Our New Classroom

Over the summer our classroom was extended and now we have a large new classroom which is bright and airy.  Aren't we lucky!  There is lots of room so that we can have an art area and a role play zone.  It's a wonderful place to learn :-)
