Big Writing

Today we did our first session of "Big Writing". We have been working hard all week to improve our description and sentence structure and today we got a chance to show off everything we have learned. We lit candles, listened to music and had a go at writing a description independently using all the fantastic words we have collected this week. Have a look in our big writing books to see the amazing work we have created!

European Language Day

Here we are celebrating European Language Day! Thank you parents for providing such fantastic costumes.

We have done lots of activities today learning all about France. We even learned to count to 10 and did some maths games in French!

This morning we decorated the cakes we made yesterday for our McMillan coffee morning. We used red, white and blue sprinkles in honour of the French flag. We gave loads of cakes to ks2 to sell, but we thought it was only fair we should keep a few back for quality control!

Science Week

Last week we had a fun science week learning about  plants and animals in their local habitats. At the beginning of the week we looked at what all living thjngs need in order to survive and went on a treasure hunt to find objects that were 'living', 'not living' and 'once living'.  While doing this we also talked about the differences and similarities between plants and animals.  We enjoyed going on a mini beast hunt and looking at what the forest area provides for these creatures. We learnt new vocabulary such as, 'consumer', 'producer', 'herbivore', 'carnivore' and 'omnivore' as we found out about food chains.

Vincent Van Gogh is a famous painter. In his life time he only sold one painting out of the hundreds he produced. Now his paintings sell for millions. We looked at one of his most famous paintings ,Sunflowers then drew and painted our own version. They look amazing!
